Santa Maria a Monte

Santa Maria a Monte in the past became famous as a strategic military outpost, has always been the contention between the various Tuscan cities, "passing" from Florence to Lucca, has become Pisan territory. We find within its territory the birthplace of Carducci, where it is thought to have lived youth Giosuè Carducci lived and where his father Michael, village doctor. Remember also the presence of the House Galilei, then the home of the famous Tuscan scientist.
